Hari Merdeka is coming. Counting down the days, it left about 10 days....
Back in secondary school, the principal always instructed all the students and teachers need to celebrate this important day of malaysia for one month. What's the celebration event? there's gonna be colouring 'jalur gemilang' competition, poet competition, and all sort of exhibition that related to patriotism. Besides, all the students have to sing patriotic songs for the entire month. That was what happened back at Malaysia. What is the purpose? is this going to help to boost our patriotism?
From the news, malaysia govt is soon facing a financial crisis. They reduced subsidy, they reduced govt expenditure, and as a consequences inflation is everywhere. I wonder how the people is going to survive with the low income? Money seems important at this point of time. The salary is flat. Those who study economic will know a govt need to know how to handle their economy in order to improve the people's lifestyle. Im not going to make a political speech here. This is not my intention. What i want to ask is how much do we love our country???
Seeing the country fall, how many of us actually still concern about it? or how many people bother to know about it? When we are actually busying and worrying with our very OWN life, such as assignments, tutorials, food, entertainment, how many of us actually think of how's malaysia doing right now? look at me, im already a second year university student, two more years im going to step out the university door and face the world. how terrific is that? and in two years time, what will malaysia becoming? what kind of workforce will malaysia provide for me? Or i should ask, what is my contribution to malaysia? what can i do with my knowledge? or do i have opportunity to do so?
One hand you think of how to help malaysia, even many of us know we wont be allowed to. Why? we all know the reason, dont we? On the other hand, you are bombarded by all the negative news that happened at malaysia. all sort of thing that make my heart trembled and sometimes i wish i wouldnt know. and the funniest thing is those who reside at malaysia is being ignorant. Only those stay out of malaysia be able to see this. Why is this so? Where do we read it from? mostly come from internet cos we dont have access to local newspaper. So do we have to believe it? think it objectively, it is just a description without date and evidence. Should we believe it or not? it is really a call for judgment, dont it?
Coincidentally, today is also Australia Voting Day. Who do you think gonna win?
I have this funny thought, if one day everyone lost their identity as malays, chinese, or indian.. or even in a broader sense, lose their identity as australian or malaysian, would every people on this earth could stay peacefully and then help each other out instead of self-benefit comes first. Would recognition and appreciation lead the world instead of conquer and power?
